pproaching Idul Fitri, the city administration through city-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya is selling subsidized basic goods in traditional markets starting Thursday.

In the operation, called pasar murah, or affordable market, the city administration is selling various basic cooking materials such as rice, eggs, cooking oil, beef, chicken and sugar, all at low prices. The operation is being conducted in 73 traditional markets across the city, including in Minggu Market in South Jakarta, Palmerah Market in West Jakarta and Petojo Hilir Market in Central Jakarta.

Pasar Jaya president director Djangga Lubis said that the operation would be conducted in 10 markets each day, up until July 16.

Further, Governor Basuki '€œAhok'€ Tjahaja Purnama asked that all payments be made electronically.

'€œFor the first six days of the operation, all payments must be made electronically. If this system proves to be successful, then it should continue until the end of the operation,'€ he said during the launch at City Hall.
