he House of Representatives has approved all six Supreme Court justice candidates that were been proposed by the Judicial Commission.
'We decided to confirm the candidates in a plenary session [today],' said Benny Kabur Harman, the deputy chairman of Commission III overseeing law and legal affairs after the meeting on Thursday.
The six confirmed candidates are West Java High Court judge Wahidin, West Sulawesi High Court head Maria Anna Samiyati, Surabaya State Administrative Court Judge Yosran, East Java High Court judge Suhardjono, Supreme Court supervisory division head Sunarto and Jambi Religious Court deputy head Mukti Arto.
Commission III held interview sessions for the candidates from June 29 to July 1.
Nine political factions in the commission agreed on all six names. The Gerindra Party faction approved only three of the candidates.
The Supreme Court is currently in need of eight new justices for various chambers, but the Judicial Commission could only provide the six candidates. Two seats, in the court's state administration chamber and its military chamber, are still vacant.
