he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) selection committee has so far passed 194 of 611 people applying to become the commission's leaders.
After verifying applicants' administrative documents and competence, the government-backed selection committee announced the names of those who passed the initial selection.
Kompas.com reported on Saturday that of the 194 applicants who passed, 171 were men and 23 were women, from a range of different professional and educational backgrounds: 46 lawyers, 31 executives, 28 lecturers, 23 law enforcers, 10 auditors and four from the KPK.
Starting from July 4 until Aug. 3, 2015, the public is able to give responses and offer objections to the successful candidates.
On July 8, the applicants will undergo a second test to make a paper on their own competence, the results of which will be announced on July 15. After that, the selection committee will conduct an assessment of all applicants on July 27-28, 2015, and will shortlist them on Aug. 12.
Applicants will undergo medical tests and interviews on Aug. 18 and Aug. 24, respectively. The names of 10 candidates who pass all stages of selection will be handed over to President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo on Aug. 31, 2015. (rms)(++++)
