econd Brig. Putra Suhardiman, a member of Mamasa Police in West Sulawesi, was stabbed by a group of youths on Sunday night amid the hustle of a fair. Putra remained unconscious on Monday morning.
No official statement from the police on the cause of the stabbing, but uncofirmed reports said that the incident was sparked by an offence by one of the youths for being scolded by Putra for riding a motorcycle with noisy exhaust.
Putra's mother, who rushed from Jeneponto, South Sulawesi to Polewali Mandar hospital, could only cry upon seeding the poor condition of her son. She later fell unconscious after seeing the condition of Putra
Putra was severely wounded in her hands, legs, back and neck. He was immediately operated at the hospital after being transported for six hours from Mamasa to Polewali Mandar.
Aside from being wounded on four parts of his body, one of Putra's leg bone was also broken. "Now his condition is improving. Hopefully all will be okay," Ilham, a surgeon of the hospital, said as quoted by kompas.com. (hhr)
