orontalo province has resumed corn exports, sending off a 2,000 ton shipment, this time to the Philippines. Gorontalo Agricultural Food Crops and Horticulture Office head Mulyadi Mario said the total export volume of corn had reached 95,967 tons as of July this year, or valued at Rp 555 billion (about US$426 million).
'The volume excludes the total inter-island corn consignments worth Rp 423 billion. In other words, around Rp 978 billion has been spent purchasing corn from farmers in Gorontalo,' said Mulyadi.
The Gorontalo Central Statistics Agency recorded an accumulated export value of 7,560,279 tons of corn passing through the port in Gorontalo from January to April this year, which represents an increase of 431.17 percent from the corresponding period in 2014.
