cores of journalists under the banner of the Alliance of Independence Journalists (AJI), Denpasar branch, held a rally in front of Bajra Sandhi monument in Denpasar on Tuesday, to express their concerns over violence against journalists.
The rally was held in response to the most recent incident at the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) building on Monday, where several photojournalists were beaten by supporters of Empat Lawang regent, Budi Antoni Aljufri, who has been named as a corruption suspect.
During the rally, journalists from various media also pulled off their press cards and cameras and conducted a joint prayer.
The rally coordinator, Nandang Astika, said that the incident at KPK building was an attack on press freedom, and that journalists have the right to cover important events that have a public interest.
