After a break for the Idul Fitri holiday, police will resume a manhunt for the remaining members of a terrorist group hiding in the mountains of Poso, Central Sulawesi.
Operation Camar Maleo III will resume after Idul Fitri, reinforced by personnel from the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Unit based in Kelapa Dua in Jakarta, and in conjunction with Indonesian Military (TNI) troops.
'We will also join forces with TNI forces from the Tadulako Military Command in Palu and Wirabuana Military Command in Makassar, South Sulawesi,' Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Idham Azis told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
Idham said the operation was targeting 24 figures from the police's most-wanted list for their involvement in terror acts and would be thorough and comprehensive.
Separately, TNI soldiers have impounded a variety of authorized and home-made firearms and ammunitions in Poso.
The firearms were handed in by residents of the regency during a joint military drive currently underway in Poso Pesisir Bersaudara subdistrict.
