Simple, stylish Muslim looks

Four popular Indonesian designers '€” Ria Miranda, Dian Pelangi, Restu Anggraini and Vivi Zubedi '€” have collaborated with hijup.com to create simple yet stylish Ramadhan and Idul Fitri collections.

Known for her pastel drawings, Ria has delivered a Moroccan-inspired collection called Kasbah, which is a high-walled fortress that usually has no windows. For some families in Morocco, having a Kasbah is a sign of wealth.

Ria said that for '€œRia Miranda for HijUp'€, she and the online store team carried out thorough discussion prior to producing the collection.

'€œSo the designs are all based on characters of HijUp'€™s consumers,'€ said Ria prior to the trunk show of the collection in Jakarta.

With Morocco in mind, Ria has translated the country'€™s unique Moorish architecture into a simple yet modern collection that is infused with Spanish, Portuguese and French influences.

Ria applies the Moroccan-inspired details into tunics, skirts, tops, dresses and kaftans in soft colors, such as brown, green and blue.

The designer also marries Islamic geometric accents with floral embroidery inspired by Hungarian embroidery, on satin and diamond georgette fabrics. The Aimash Kaftan, a long white loose dress with brown detail is perfect for Idul Fitri. Meanwhile, the Adeeva Kaftan, a two-tone loose long dress '€“ available in brown-white and blue-white, is another option for those wanting to look different during the holiday.

A celebrated young designer, Dian continues wowing fashion lovers with her signature bright and colorful drawings.

For the collaboration, Dian not only came up with looks for the holiday but also elegant outfits for Ramadhan.

'€œThere are eight premium looks, which include four prayer-friendly dresses and four other for Idul Fitri,'€ said Dian.

She said that the prayer-friendly dresses provided easy access for the wearer to conduct compulsory and optional prayers on a daily basis.

'€œDuring Ramadhan we usually participate in a series of activities. Those prayer-friendly dresses cover up, therefore they are appropriate to wear when praying'€ said Dian, who is famous for her colorful tie dye designs.

Dian applies two coloring techniques '€” ombré (gradation) and tie dye '€” on cerutti fabric for the prayer-friendly dresses.

For her ombré designs, Dian was inspired by the Noor hotel in Bandung, which applies the same teal color in its interior.

In her tie dye designs, Dian applies a snake-like motif and grey color that was inspired by an old building on Jl. Braga in Bandung.

As for the remaining four looks, Dian uses woven fabrics that are accentuated with Swarovski rocks, making them extra glamorous and elegant.

With a love for creating contemporary, modern and edgy designs, Restu offers a clean and minimalistic collection named Naqiya, which means pure. '€œI made a very simple collection,'€ said Restu.

For the collection, Restu applies a minimalistic layering technique. She has picked muted tones such as white and grey on kaftans, blouses, pants and skirts for Ramadhan. As for Idul Fitri, Restu has produced dresses on comfortable cotton-blend polyester fabric.

Opting for primary and bold colors, Vivi drew a series of abaya collection for Ramadhan and Idul Fitri.

Vivi'€™s abaya is fit for tropical weather and rich in ethnic-bohemian details.

Black dominates the overall collection, yet it is mixed with colors to add a modern appeal.
