he Democratic Party says it will not nominate ministerial candidates to join the Cabinet of President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo in the event of a reshuffle.
Democratic Party deputy chairman Syariefuddin Hasan said the party had not supported Jokowi in last year's presidential election so it could not expect the President to give the Democrats seats in the Cabinet.
'The party did not join the coalition to nominate the President. We did not fight to support him, so it would be funny if we expected something from him,' Syariefuddin said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
President Jokowi has indicated that he is likely to reshuffle his Cabinet soon as a result of the deteriorating economic situation.
Jokowi gave the signal during a meeting with 11 economists at the State Palace last week when he discussed the country's latest economic developments.
