AKARTA: The construction of school buildings worth billions of rupiah throughout the capital remains in limbo due to budget approval issues, according to data from the Jakarta Education Agency.
Jakarta Education Agency school infrastructure head Sarjoko said there were currently 56 school projects that were currently being neglected.
'The construction of these 56 buildings is a 2013-2014 development project that has yet to be completed,' he said on Friday at City Hall as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that the construction of the school buildings had yet to be accomplished mainly as a result of the budget approval process, which he considered to be moving at a snail's pace. Sarjoko promised that the school building projects, costing a total of Rp 500 billion (US$37 million), would be completed within a year.
