Your comments on the call made by the Health Ministry and lawmakers to the Finance Ministry to earmark all government revenue from tobacco taxation for the health budget as the sector is heavily burdened by medical issues brought about by tobacco consumption:
Well, the idea is a good one but incomplete since tobacco has an effect not only on health but also on the environment.
So tax revenues should be divided between the health and environment ministries.

The increase of government revenue from tobacco will never deliver a positive impact on people's health. Just stop smoking and save your money.

Not only do I fully agree that we should allocate funds derived from tobacco taxes to the Health Ministry, I further propose that cigarette companies be made to go all out and switch their business from distributing nicotine to producing cows' milk, which is then to be distributed freely to kindergarten children.
This will compensate for the irreparable damage caused by nicotine intake all these years. All facilities belonging to cigarette companies are to be respected as long as they start compensating for the damage caused used by nicotine on the bodies of our youth.
Our government can help by allocating land and valleys for milk production. I hope that in this way the nation is somehow compensated and in the end, will create a healthier Indonesian youth.

The Health Ministry needs to educate those who smoke and those who are potential smokers on the dangers of nicotine consumption. They know the negative effects of cigarettes.
Raising tax on tobacco will never be the solution. Pointing fingers at an industry that has contributed to the national budget seems unfair
The tobacco industry is balanced on the edge between grace and damnation.
It provides jobs and contributes a significant portion to the national budget. But it also raises medical issues, and smoking habits degrade health conditions.

Tax them and tax them hard. The aim is to put the money into health and prevention.
The tax must keep going up until the percentage of smokers in Indonesia drops to reasonable levels.
