The ongoing Sail Flobamora festival, organized by the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provincial administration, has so far failed to attract a large number of local visitors, as most regional administrations in the province opted not to take part in this year's event.
NTT Tourism and Creative Economy Agency head Marius Ardu Jelamu said, as of Tuesday, only six out of the province's 22 regions had taken part in the event, namely Kupang municipality and Kupang, Alor, East Flores, Rote Ndao and Sikka regencies.
'The goal of the festival is very important, as it is aimed at greeting yachts from Darwin, Australia, who will make a stopover in Kupang,' Ardu told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
The week-long event, which is running from July 27 to Aug. 4, will showcase art and cultural performances from a number of regions in NTT and other provinces, including dances and the sasando traditional musical instrument. Ardu said currently two cruise ships from Darwin had arrived in Kupang. 'We hope the weather will calm in the next few days so other ships from Darwin can also come to Kupang,' said Ardu.
