A candidate in the South Minahasa regional election Christiany Eugenia has been accused of using a fake diploma to register herself in the race
candidate in the South Minahasa regional election Christiany Eugenia has been accused of using a fake diploma to register herself in the race.
An organization, which called itself the Indonesian Young Generation Pioneers (PAMI), from North Sulawesi came to the Jakarta KPU office on Tuesday to file the report.
'We filed a report alleging that Christiany Eugenia, the incumbent regent of South Minahasa who registered herself on Monday to join the election this year, used fake senior high school and junior high school-equivalent certificates,' PAMI Head Noldy Pratasis said on Tuesday.
Christiany was nominated by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P).
As evidence, Noldy brought a letter from the London-based Harry Carlton Comprehensive School stating that the institution did not have any educational record of Christiany.
'We have brought the case to the North Sulawesi Police, but they halted the investigation,' Noldy said.
KPU Commissioner Arief Budiman said that KPU would work with the police to investigate the allegations.
