Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) holders will be allowed to purchase school equipment in shops at traditional markets across the capital
akarta Smart Card (KJP) holders will be allowed to purchase school equipment in shops at traditional markets across the capital.
Previously, KJP holders could only purchase school equipment at designated stores which provided non-cash payment facilities, including Gramedia and Gunung Agung bookstores, or other modern supermarkets and the ongoing Jakarta Book Fair.
Each KJP allowance program beneficiaries receive Rp 500,000 (US$37) in annual allowance, on top of a monthly allowance, to purchase school equipment and text books.
'KJP cards can be used at shops which already have Bank DKI or Prima network [electronic data capture] EDC facilities,' Jakarta Education Agency budget control unit head Susie Nurhati said on Wednesday as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
She said that the agency had provided EDC facilities at school equipment shops at the Asemka market in West Jakarta, Jatinegara market in East Jakarta and Tanah Abang and Senen markets in Central Jakarta.
'They can shop in those affordable markets now,' she added.
