Japanese jazz composer and pianist Hiromi Uehara wowed audiences at the Cotton Club Jakarta on Wednesday during a performance on the club's small stage alongside members of The Trio Project.

During the band's first show which started on 6.30 p.m., Hiromi, accompanied by bassist Anthony Jackson and drummer Simon Phillips graced the club's small stage with an energetic performance of her enigmatic fusion of composition that kept the audiences clapping and cheering.

Opening the show with 'Move' from her second album with The Trio Project, Hiromi, who wore a casual outfit of black shirt, black skinny pants and sport shoes, entertained her fans as well as new listeners for more than an hour with a total of seven songs.

Hiromi's performance was part of Cotton Club Jakarta's pre-opening special event held for three days from July 27. Nestled on the third floor of the newly-opened Fairmont Jakarta in Senayan area, the place is the latest addition to the capital's sophisticated club scene, highlighting on the chemistry between live music and fine dining.

The Cotton Club brand was originally born in New York City in 1923 as a first-class nightclub in the heart of Harlem frequented by celebrities and the rich and famous. Prior to Jakarta, it opened a sister club in Tokyo in 2005. (kes)(++++)
