our badminton legends are to greet Jakarta fans in an event called Yonex Legends' Vision Indonesia, at the Asia-Africa Badminton Hall in Senayan, Jakarta, on Aug. 17.
The Legends' Vision event was announced in March during the world's oldest badminton tournament, the All England in Birmingham. The event aims to raise awareness of badminton around the globe, bringing together four badminton legends: Lin Dan of China, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, Peter Gade of Denmark and Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia.
In Jakarta, the badminton legends will showcase exhibition matches and coaching clinics in the hope that they will inspire younger generations to take up badminton.
'There's a noble cause I want to share with all young players and fans. Through the event, I want to inspire Indonesia's young people to follow our paths so they can write their own history [in badminton] in the future,' said Taufik.
'As the host, I would like to make this event memorable for the legends and young players, as well as the fans. We organized the event to coincide with Indonesia's 70th anniversary of independence. I hope the event will bring positive impacts for the development of Indonesian badminton,' said the 2004 Olympic Games gold medalist.
