uhammadiyah representatives from 16 countries on Sunday attended an international meeting aimed at discussing the latest developments in the second- largest Islamic organization in Indonesia as a result of its involvement in international forums.

'€œThe meeting discussed three main agendas, namely Muhammadiyah'€™s international achievements, information sharing for further development of the organization and Muhammadiyah '€˜sister'€™ program initiatives,'€ said KH Muhyiddin Junaidi, who led the Muhammadiyah International meeting session, as quoted by Antara in Makassar in South Sulawesi, on Sunday.

Participants of the international meeting came from France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, the US, Timor Leste and Vietnam.

Muhyiddin said all participants enthusiastically attended all meeting sessions.

Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin said in the opening of the meeting that Muhammadiyah was an Islamic organization that would work at the international level.

"Muhammadiyah has reverberated not only in the national but also international levels and Muhammadiyah in Indonesia will become a model for other organizations in other countries,'€ he said.

A meeting participant from Russia, who identified himself only as Arthur, said he was very proud to be able to monitor the development of Muhammadiyah in Indonesia.

'€œI'€™m a Muslim. I have learned a lot about Islam in Indonesia and I have become a Muhammadiyah observer,'€ said Arthur. (ebf)
