Greater Jakarta: Bogor to build overpass on Jl. RE Martadinata

In a bid to ease congestion and prevent traffic accidents, the Bogor administration is set to build an overpass above the railway crossing on Jl. RE Martadinata in Central Bogor district.
Bogor Mayor Bima Arya said on Tuesday that the frequency of the trains in the railway crossing was high: every three minutes.
'During rush hour, motorists in the location can suffer from one-and-a-half hours of traffic jams in the location, which has disadvantaged residents,' he said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Bima said his administration aimed to finish the detailed design engineering of the overpass this year, so the physical construction, funded by the central government, could commence next year.
He said that while waiting for the completion of the overpass, the administration would take several steps to ease the congestion in the area, including widening the road and constructing a lane barrier to better regulate vehicles.
'The funds for the road widening project will be included in the revised city budget,' he said.
Bima said his administration also planned to build an overpass on Jl. Kebon Pedes in Tanah Sareal district.
