Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi warns civil servants that they should remain neutral ahead of and during the December elections, or they may be dismissed
dministrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Yuddy Chrisnandi warns civil servants that they should remain neutral ahead of and during the December elections, or they may be dismissed.
'Sanctions may vary. If it is proven that [the civil servants] use state facilities, they will be dismissed,' he said on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) earlier reported that there are cases that officials from Simalungun regency administration have participated in the campaign of incumbent regent Jopinus Ramli Saragih.
It also reported that incumbents running in several regions have used regional budgets (APBD) to aid their candidacies. The reports, however, still needed to be verified by the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK).
Yuddy said regulations strictly banned civil servants from participating directly or indirectly in regional elections.
The Hanura Party politician said that he had not received any official reports of civil servants participating in elections, but he made assurances that he would uphold the regulations.
