Search team dispatched to locate missing Trigana aircraft

uthorities of the Sentani Air Force Base and a search and rescue (SAR) team are carrying out an operation to locate a Trigana aircraft that lost contact with the control tower during its Jayapura-Oksibili flight on Sunday.

The plane departed from Jayapura at 2:22 p.m.local time and was scheduled to arrive in Oksibili at 3:15 p.m. A Jayapura-Oksibil flight normally takes around 55 minutes.

Sentani Air Force Base commander Col.I Made Susila Adyana said as quoted by Antara on Sunday that Sentani Air Force Base authorities, together with the SAR team, had mapped the area around the flight path to estimate the location of the aircraft, which had 49 people on board.

Earlier, Papua Police spokesperson Sr.Comr.Patrige said that the aircraft, which was piloted by Capt.Hasanudin, had failed to arrive in Oksibil.

According to the aircraft'€™s flight manifest, Capt.Hasanudin's crew comprised co-pilot Aryadin, mechanic officer Mario and female flight attendants, Ika and Dita.

Among passengers listed on the aircraft'€™s flight manifest are Amran, Armaita, Asirun, Esap Aruman, Matusaha Sitorus, Musvia, Natikonop Ireneus, Piter, Surya, Susilo, Thenus Babingga, Utopdana Hosea and Wengdepen Bamulki,

Other passengers include Alimdam Yawan, Egenio Dilam, Eki Kimki, Emilia Gobay, Epi Ardi, Ewelin Uropmabin, Kasipmabin Engel Bertus, Kepi Deal, Marselino, Methodius, Milka Kakyarmabin, Petrus Tekege, Ronald Dilam,Theo Stiben Kalakmabin, Yusran and Valerin. (ebf)(++++)
