W

arsito Purwo Taruno, the inventor of a cancer scanner, was presented the BJ Habibie Technology Award on Thursday by the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT).

'€œHe won the award for his creative, efficient and effective innovation. His invention isn'€™t only on paper but is applicable,'€ BPPT head Unggul Priyanto told tempo.co.

Warsito, who graduated from Shizouka University in Japan, invented a scanner using static electric fields that can be used in the medical and industrial sectors.

His innovation is different from conventional scanners like CT and MRI scans as Warsito'€™s machine can scan objects in open space.

Warsito, who is the founder and CEO of Jakarta-based CTECH Labs EdWar Technology, has developed technology that has been recognized and adopted by international scientists in Japan, the US, Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. (nov/ika)
