AKARTA: Guitarist Abdee Negara, who is currently taking a break from his rock band Slank as a result of his kidney illness, was deeply moved when his 19-year-old daughter offered to donate her kidney.
'I was shocked that she suddenly proposed becoming a donor. I never realized that she cares so much about me,' Abdee said about his daughter, Alanis Nurulizah, on Thursday in Jakarta, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Alanis, who recently enrolled in the School of Medicine, Hasanuddin University in Makassar, South Sulawesi, gave Abdee a kidney-donation form when conveying her proposal.
'There is no reason for you to decline my kidney,' Abdee recalled his daughter's words.
However, Abdee did not let Alanis to go ahead with her plan considering her tender age and the existence of another kidney donor.
'I got a donor candidate, hopefully it [the kidney] will match,' he said, adding that he must improve his health before undergoing the kidney transplant.
