orth Jakarta Police have arrested a human trafficking suspect, identified only as KMD, 70, for allegedly planning to sell two girls known as SW, 17, and ES, 20.
North Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Susetio Cahyadi said on Monday that the police arrested the suspect on Sunday after the victims escaped from the suspect's house in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.
'Then they filed a report to Penjaringan Police, saying that he was going to sell them to several customers,' Susetio said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
The alleged crime, he said, started when the suspect, who was also SW's relative, picked her up in Bekasi and ES in Karawang to go for a holiday.
However, instead of carrying them to their holiday destination, Lampung, the suspect carried them to his house and asked them to be commercial sex workers at a cafe.
'On Friday, they escaped,' Susetio said.
He added that the suspect might face a maximum 15-year prison sentence for violating Law No. 21/2007 on human trafficking.
