Campaign to begin Thursday

S

outh Tangerang mayoral candidates will begin their political campaigns on Thursday after officially receiving their respective election numbers from the General Election Commission (KPUD).

Drawing a lottery on Tuesday, the South Tangerang KPUD allowed the candidate pairs of Ikhsan Modjo and Li '€œAlin'€ Claudia Chandra, Arsid and Elvier Ariadiannie Soedarto Poetri and Airin Rachmy Diany and Benyamin Davnie to proceed to campaign under numbers one, two and three, respectively.

'€œWe have decided the candidates'€™ election numbers through lottery today. We will then be prepared for the campaign period, which starts on Thursday,'€ said Mohammad Subhan, the South Tangerang KPUD head, adding that the campaign period ends on Dec. 5.

Separately, Airin, who has been leading South Tangerang with Benyamin since 2011, said that her team would continue some ongoing programs, including providing more healthcare facilities and transportation solutions, with improvements of the services through technology.

'€œWe will use technology to help integrate the service. We have been working with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology for this plan,'€ Airin told The Jakarta Post.

Meanwhile, Ikhsan and Alin, who are endorsed by the Democratic Party and Gerindra, said that they had scrutinized programs in a bid to lead the South Tangerang residents to decent lives, including by synchronizing development between the South Tangerang administration and private developers.

There was a big gap between infrastructure built by developers and the city administration, Ikhsan said. According to him, the quality of infrastructure, such as roads, health centers and schools, provided by developers is more adequate than that built by the city administration.

The pair from the PDI-P and Hanura Party, Arsid and Elvier, said that they had a vision to provide advanced services that create comfort and fairness in every sector. However, Arsid refused to elaborate, saying that the programs would be scrutinized later if they were elected. (agn)
