Briefs: Reclaiming Jakarta Bay

T Intiland Development has announced a plan to revise its budget for the H Island reclamation project, in order to stay consistent with the Jakarta administration'€™s plan to zone the area.

Intiland'€™s corporate secretary, Theresia Rustandi, said that the budget being prepared to reclaim Island H'€™s 63 hectares reached Rp 7.5 trillion, including the development of supporting infrastructure. '€œThis is early data. We will make revisions as long as there are changes in design,'€ Theresia said as quoted by bisnis.com.

The company is one of the developers given permission to work on the reclamation project in Jakarta Bay. Based on Governor'€™s Decree No. 121/2012, 17 islands will be constructed in this zone, divided into three sectors.

Island H, in the western sector, falls under Intiland'€™s jurisdiction. The company is being tasked with developing the area for horizontal and vertical housing settlements, offices, tourism, trade and services.

Some 60 percent of the land will be used for these functions, while the rest will be reserved for open green spaces, roads and social services. Zoning on Island H, Theresia said, was not yet complete. As a result, Intiland'€™s masterplan may also very well change.

'€œRp 7.5 trillion is a conservative estimate. It could change. It could go up or down,'€ Theresia said.

The reclamation project, she went on, might be finished in three years'€™ time. She also expressed hope that the company would obtain its reclamation permit at the end of the year so that it could immediately begin the reclamation process.
