Ahok did the right thing as the governor to clean up the riverbanks from being used to house shacks for people to live in. The resulting event was unfortunate, but the previous residents occupied spaces that, should have been and must be used as areas to allow rainwater to be absorbed during the monsoon season, to prevent flooding.

The shacks that existed then certainly contributed to floods in the city, as well as the people who threw stuff into the river, polluting it more and more. Now these people have also requested way too much. They wanted to live close to the river and were unwilling to relocate to new apartments that are a lot better than the shacks. I do not get why they did not want to move to the apartments that the governor built for them.

Then when the rainy season starts and the floods come, they will say that the governor is incompetent in preventing flooding. For everyone'€™s sake, please just move to the new apartments already.
