AKARTA: A week-long film screening event in 2012 has inspired producer Mira Lesmana to produce a sequel to hit drama Ada Apa Dengan Cinta? (What's Up With Cinta?).
'At the time we held a reunion and a film screening to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AADC? at Blok M Square for a week,' she told tempo.co recently.
Mira was amazed at the crowds that flocked to see the flick.
'After that, we decided to tell the characters' stories 12 years on.'
Mira was more upbeat about the project after garnering a positive public response for a 2014 short film revolving around the film's main characters, Cinta and Rangga.
The 10-minute short, part of a promotional campaign for communication application Line, has been watched by five million people on YouTube.
'At the end of 2014, we agreed to make AADC? 2.'
Directed by Riri Riza, the sequel will feature its original leads, Dian Sastrowardoyo and Nicholas Saputra. They will start filming in October.
