Putting it briefly: Emerio, Mavecrics win at JCA League

he weekend saw two teams come out on top, causing upset victories over clubs that were fancied to win their respective encounters.

In the first game played on Saturday at Cibubur from Division 1, Emerio CC took on the defending champions KLN WISCI Wanderers. Despite losing the toss and being asked to bat first, WISCI was in a comfortable position at one stage, scoring 141/4 in 24 overs. Emerio then came back strongly with a flurry of wickets, which saw WISCI lose their last six wickets for just 39 runs, to be all out for 180 runs.

Aman Singh scored 68 runs while Rajeev Rajeswaran scored 31 runs. For Emerio, Vijay, Piyush and Maneesh Dubey took two wickets each. In reply, powered by Maneesh'€™s 55 runs and Vijay (31 runs), Emerio reached the target losing eight wickets. For WISCI, Aman took 3/49, while Deepak Singh took 2/28.

In another match that produced an upset victory, led by a fantastic 127 not out by Miraz Monga, the Mavecrics defeated the fancied Fez Rebels team by seven wickets, in a Division 2 encounter at Cibubur, on Sunday. The Rebels, who were asked to bat first, were coasting along well at 189/4 at one stage, mainly due to a fine 78 runs by Corbon Loughnan and 47 runs by Marten Eddy. A strong comeback then by the Mavecrics saw the Rebels collapse to 233 all out, losing their last six wickets for just 38 runs.

Pradeep Patnaik and Keyur Moradia took four and two wickets respectively. Miraz then forged two crucial partnerships of 117 runs and 83 runs for the third and fourth wickets, with Pradeep (47 runs) and Sandeep Gaikwad respectively, to seal the game.

In another fixture on Sunday, Jakarta Barbarians defeated TKCC by five wickets, at the GMIS grounds. Batting first, TKCC was all out for 160 runs. Anil scored 66 runs and Neeraj 32 runs. Eki Antaria and Jared Seiffert took 3/37 and 2/28 respectively.

The Barbarians then chased down the target losing only five wickets. Eki scored an unbeaten 53 runs, while Sam Mabey scored 42 runs. For TKCC, Hitesh Malhotra and Mukesh took two wickets each.
