The police in Sukabumi, West Java, have nabbed a man, identified as Indra Okata Permana, alias Raden, 35, for claiming to be God and for allegedly burning a Koran.

Sukabumi Police Chief Adj. Comr. Sulaeman Salim said his officers visited the crime scene in Gunungkarang village, Baros district, Sukabumi regency, West Java and found three damaged Korans.

Sulaeman said the suspect, who had only lived in the area for a week, forced his followers to pray to the sun and did not require them to believe in Islamic teachings. He also allegedly abused one of his followers, Agus Wahyudin.

Your comments:

How dare he claim to be God. I have been God since 1958.

When will people accept that religion is only mind control and is nothing more and nothing less?

Wow, West Java has a cult leader. How many gullible people believed his rubbish? Seriously, hypnotized and beaten and believed this guy to be a deity as well. There'€™s a sucker born every minute. He is a brave (or likely seriously mentally ill) person to think he would get away with a Koran burning in West Java let alone Indonesia in the current climate.

Incredibly this nutcase had followers. But so did Charles Manson, others still have a huge following.

If he did not burn the Koran would he just be taken to a mental asylum I wonder? Burning that book was not a smart thing to do.

In Sweden they check for alcohol or other drugs. If clean and not committing any crime we are free. In this particular case, I don'€™t know. I have met many '€œvillage idiots'€ in Indonesia. I am not talking about the House of Representatives. I really think RI can progress further, with a little help from its friends

This guy would be dead if this were to happen in Taliban countries. Here I hope, he will be sent to an asylum for treatment.

If Indonesia were to arrest all the nutcases there would be a big void in religious leaders, politics and government agencies that would need to be filled. Problem is, Indonesia would just produce more nutcases to fill the voids.

If God appeared on earth and burned all the holy books because he didn'€™t write them He would be arrested. A god is only acceptable if endorsed by a current religious bureaucracy.

Jagera

Just goes to show how uneducated people are to follow nutcases like this.

Willo

All major religions in the world started off like this, but minus the physical abuse, methinks.
