Google introduces new logo

G

oogle Inc. introduced a new logo on Wednesday, the seventh time since the internet giant started in 1998, the firm stated in a blog post.

The new logo is not too different from the old one as the change only appears in the font. It uses the San Serif font, without any lighting and shadow effects.

However, it still uses the same colors for each letter. It is reported that the new logo is similar with the one used by its parent company, Alphabet.

'€œToday we'€™re introducing a new logo and identity family that reflects this reality and shows you when the Google magic is working for you, even on the tiniest screens,'€ Google said in the company'€™s official blog post.

Google has been evolving for the past 17 years. For its first logo in 1998, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin created a logo for their Stanford University graduate project with an exclamation mark at the end. In the same year, it changed again adding a male character in the middle. The last change in 1998 included the additional word beta in the logo as Google shared its beta release.

In May 1999, the logo used the Catull typeface and added shadow effects to the letters. In May 2010, the logo was brighter as it sported a reduced drop shadow. In 2013, the logo went flat with some typographical tweaks. In its latest change, the logo includes the Google dots and G icon.

The company affirmed that the change won'€™t be the last with the latest change reflecting how Google worked with its features, such as Maps, Gmail, Chrome and others. (edn/ika)(++++)
