The city administration is set to revise Gubernatorial Regulation No
he city administration is set to revise Gubernatorial Regulation No. 179/2013 on parking fees in order to install electronic parking meters at on-street parking spots across the city.
The city administration currently has electronic parking meters installed on Jl. Agus Salim, Central Jakarta, Jl. Falatehan, South Jakarta, and Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.
Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama said the city administration aimed to reduce the number of motorists using the city's thoroughfares.
'We will revise the regulation. We want to install electronic parking meters throughout the city. We're not looking for revenue. Our logic is that if we provide cheap parking near bus stops or train stations, motorists can park their vehicles and continue their commute using public transportation,' Ahok told reporters at City Hall on Tuesday.
