Meet the kids: The cast of anakartis

As many as 73 million Indonesians ' or equal to 29 percent of the country's population ' are Internet users.
According to the Communications and Information Ministry earlier this year, more than half of them, or 58.4 percent, are young people aged between 12 and 34 years old and spend more than five hours per day online through a mobile device, laptop or personal computer.
Seizing the moment, Kapan Lagi Network (KLN), a website known for its lifestyle and celebrity news, is attempting to lure Internet users, in particular the millennial generation, who love to play on their gadgets instead of sitting in front of the TV.
To test the waters, KLN recently launched its first web series, a reality show titled #AnakArtis: The New Royalty (#CelebrityKids: The New Royalty) starring six teenage children of Indonesian public figures.
'We want to reach out to the youth with this web series,' KLN marketing vice president Aoura Chandra said during the series launch on Tuesday in Jakarta.
'We have observed that the millennial generation has shifted its attention from TV to online videos, like those on YouTube. This is one of the reasons why we created #AnakArtis.'
Some of the reality stars are familiar faces, such as MC and musician Brandon Salim, son of actor Ferry Salim; aspiring singer Nadine Waworuntu, the daughter of Indonesian diva Ruth Sahanaya and actor Jeffry Waworuntu; and film actor Shawn Adrian, the son of actress Andi Soraya.
Also appearing on the show are actor Jeremy Thomas's daughter, Valerie Thomas, and two children of singer Titi DJ, Stephanie Poetry and Daffa Jenaro.
'They are celebrities in the making. We are using the title 'New Royalty' because as we know in Indonesia, celebrities are like royalty. And these teenagers have blue blood,' Aoura said.
The stars were asked to show their true personalities, but some found it difficult at first.
'At first it felt a bit weird to have a camera follow you all the time. But as time goes by, you just start ignoring it and do things as you usually would,' said the 16-year-old Shawn, who also stars in This is Cinta and Hijabers in Love.
For Stephanie, the show enables her to spend more time with Nadine, whom she has known since they were little, and to make new friends.
'We got to talk about life and it turns out that the problems we face are not much different.'
It appears that KLN poured significant investment for the program. Although declining to reveal the production cost of the 12-episode reality show, Aoura said the production cost of every six-minute episode was equal to the cost of making an hour-long FTV television movie.
'For the first season, we didn't cooperate with any brand because we want to have full control over the content.'
Two new episodes will be uploaded every week on anakartis.com and KLN's YouTube channel.
Aoura said KLN was developing video programs and weighing the option of producing a second season of #AnakArtis.
The show is not only a vehicle for KLN to expand its market but also a valuable chance for these aspiring teenage stars to break out of the shadows of their celebrity parents.
On the show, Nadine shows that her mom, Ruth Sahanaya, is not the only talented singer in the family. Daffa, the son of Titi Dj and actor Bucek Depp, shows off his skills in spinning a turntable and producing his own music, while Brandon shows he is a funnyman.
'Now, I am known as the son of actor Ferry Salim,' Brandon said. 'But one day, people would know Ferry Salim as the father of Brandon,' the 18-year-old said with a smile.
