The House of Representatives (DPR) confirmed on Tuesday that it had received a letter from President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo containing the names of the eight remaining candidates for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leadership.

'€œYes, we have received the letter from the President regarding the KPK leadership. In accordance with procedure, we will process it today after meeting with DPR heads,'€ said DPR speaker Setya Novanto on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

Setya also confirmed that the President had made no changes to the list of names previously submitted by the KPK leadership selection committee (Pansel).

On Monday, anti-graft watchdog Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) investigation coordinator Febri Hendri told kontan.co.id that three of the eight candidates were unfit to lead the KPK, though he refused to disclose the names.

According to Febri, one of the red-flagged candidates has said in the past that the KPK was merely a tool for coordination, and that corruption cases should be brought to the Attorney General'€™s Office instead.

Another one, Febri said, had only ever submitted his official wealth report to the KPK once.

Febri expressed concern that once the process was with the DPR, it was possible that the House would picked the weakest among the candidates so as to secure their position and their party. (rad/kes)
