he Belu regency administration in East Nusa Tenggara has dismissed Raihat district head Mikael Leon after the Belu Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) acknowledged his partisan stance in the regency's upcoming local election.
'We have followed up Panwaslu's recommendation by replacing Mikael Leon with Julius Seran on Friday,' acting Belu regent Wellem Foni told reporters on Monday.
Wellem said that Mikael's dismissal was triggered by the latter's official memos stating support for a particular candidate pair in the Belu regional head election, set to be held concurrently on Dec. 9 with other 268 local elections, despite the obligation for civil servants to stay neutral in the election.
Panwaslu chairman Andre Parera said the recommendation for Mikael's dismissal was issued based on Mikael's admission to having written the official memos.
