Patrice Rio Capella
Investigators of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday questioned NasDem Party secretary general Patrice Rio Capella as a witnesses for a corruption case, allegedly involving suspended North Jakarta governor Gatot Pujo Nugroho and his wife Evy Susanti.
'Patrice Rio Capella was summoned as a witness. He is now being questioned,' said head of the KPK's information and publication division, Priharsa Nugraha, as reported by tempo.co on Wednesday.
Gatot and his wife Evy were named suspects for their alleged involvement in a bribery case involving judges at Medan's Administrative Court (PTUN Medan).
The KPK has also named senior lawyer Otto Cornelis Kaligis as a suspect along with another lawyer. Gatot hired Kaligis for a petition registered at PTUN Medan to challenge the decision of the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office to issue a letter authorizing an investigation into Gatot's office for allegedly misusing social aid funds.
Previously, Gatot, through his lawyer, Razman Arief Nasution, said that the suspended governor met NasDem chairman Surya Paloh and then-North Sumatra deputy governor Tengku Erry sometime in May, two months before the case erupted.
'The meeting was held because there was 'disharmony' between the governor and the deputy governor. Surya Paloh managed to bring them to an agreement during the meeting,' said Razman as reported by tempo.co on Aug. 5.
The meeting was also attended by Kaligis, who is the chairman of NasDem's internal dispute settlement committee.
About allegedly misusing social funds, Kaligis advised Gatot to file a petition with PTUN against the North Sumatra Prosecutors' Office.
Patrice denied that there was such a meeting. (bbn)(++++)
