On Friday, 193 nations, including Indonesia, adopted the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), introduced to replace the previous eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that expire this year. The nation's representative at the UN summit in New York, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, said Indonesia had integrated the 17 SDGs into its national planning framework.
Your comments:
The world is moving toward nationalism, protectionism and increased hostility toward foreigners. In most democratic nations, parties with programs against immigration and for protectionism are winning more and more political recognition. At this point in time any global initiative seems a bit naïve.
Also to note, the economic slowdown around the world is taking its toll on tax revenues, which leads to even larger problems to involve companies in global initiatives. Instead it will lead to savings and demands on increased productivity, leaving more and more people without jobs.
Already today most Western countries have large problems with financing their welfare systems, leading to cuts and savings and further dividing even these countries into poor and rich.
Most really poor nations have ended up in their situation due to conflicts and peace is something they need more than anything else. Efforts to get the world to a better place need to be where they can be sustainable.
Peace, democratization, education and political stability is essential. Unfortunately most of the politicians in this effort will only have short-term efforts with immediate results in mind, making the long-term trend downward.

The eight Millennium Development Goals are replaced by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and are soon to be replaced again by reality: the five ups. Hands up, put up, shut up, cough up and pay up.
