Putting it briefly: Ade/Wahyu win Thailand Open

A

de Yusuf/Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pankaryanira chalked up their first success in a grand prix gold badminton championship by winning the Thailand Open on Sunday.

The Indonesian pair defeated Malaysian veterans Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong 20-22, 23-21, 21-16 in the final in Bangkok.

Their last championship win dated back to 2013, when they won the Dutch Open Grand Prix. They said they had played with nothing to lose against their more experienced opponents.

'€œWe are glad to be able to contribute a title in the men'€™s doubles. We concentrated on the game from the start. We may have better stamina [than them],'€ Wahyu said according to an Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) release.

Indonesia had a chance to bag three titles, but Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto in the mixed doubles and Ihsan Mustofa in the men'€™s singles crashed in the last hurdles against their Korean opponents. Praveen/Debby lost to Choi Slo-gyu/Eom Hye-won 21-19, 17-21, 21-16 and Ihsan went down to Lee Hyun-il 21-17, 22-24, 21-8.
