fter conducting a number of investigations to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Putri Nur Fauziah, a young girl found dead last week in Kalideres, West Jakarta, the Jakarta Police on Thursday said that it had found DNA inside Putri's sock that matched one of two witnesses.
The police found DNA inside Putri's sock that the perpetrator might have used to cover one of his hands in order to avoid leaving his fingerprints anywhere. Putri, 9, was found dead by a Kalideres residents last week. The police said Putri might have been raped before she died.
'By finding the DNA, one of the witnesses becomes suspect,' the police's criminal detective directorate director, Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti said on Thursday.
Krishna said the police were currently looking for second opinions regarding the DNA. 'We have to be certain about this. Therefore, we have sent the DNA to be tested in other laboratories to give us second opinion,' he added, citing a hospital in Singapore as one of them.
Krishna also said that the DNA needed to be matched with other evidence to connect the dots.
