ndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) lawmaker Masinton Pasaribu denied on Thursday that he stole documents that gave details on the gratuity paid by president director of state-owned seaport operator PT Pelindo II, RJ Lino, to State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Rini Soemarno.
Masinton maintained his innocence after a questioning session at the National Police headquarters following a defamation report he filed against RJ Lino's lawyer, Frederich Yunadi, who insinuated that Masinton had obtained the document illegally.
The PDI-P politician denied the accusation, maintaining that he got the documents from watchdog groups that called themselves 'Raja Lino'.
'I am [a member of] the House of Representatives, the people's representative. I often receive information, reports and complaints from the people, which I then forward to relevant institutions, including the law enforcement agencies,' Masinton said.
He was quick to add that the original documents had been submitted to the police investigators who questioned him.
