orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday indicted State Administrative Court (PTUN) Medan head Tripeni Irianto Putro for corruption, accusing him of receiving S$20,000 in return for a favorable ruling he made in July.
KPK prosecutors suspected that the money was funneled by North Sumatra North Gatot Pujo Nugroho, helped by his wife Evi Susanty, through their lawyer OC Kaligis as a payment for Tripeni's ruling to annul the legality of a letter of investigation issued by North Sumatra prosecutors' office against Gatot's office.
'The money was given through lawyer Yagari 'Gerry' Bhastara to influence the defendant's decision on the verdict,' said prosecutor Mochamad Wirasakjaya, reading out the indictment document at the court on Thursday.
After months of surveillance, KPK prosecutors caught Tripeni as well as two other PTUN judges Amir Fauzi and Dermawan Ginting and court clerk Syamsir Yusfan accepting bribes from Gerry at the PTUN Medan in a sting operation. The KPK further moved to arrest Gatot, Evi and Kaligis after finding that Gerry acted in the dirty scheme after receiving instruction from Gatot, Kaligis and Evi.
