JAKARTA: The Transportation Agency on Friday reshuffled hundreds of its officers to prevent the civil servants from abusing their power
AKARTA: The Transportation Agency on Friday reshuffled hundreds of its officers to prevent the civil servants from abusing their power.
Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah said that civil servants in the agency were often too comfortable in their positions and dominated their respective units. Andri said that some had been in one position for too long, which increased the potential for corruption and collusion.
It is widely believed that some Transportation Agency civil servants own Mikrolet (minivans) or Kopaja (minibuses), and often receive illegal levies to issue new permits or vehicle road worthiness test (KIR) certificates.
'We reshuffled up to 720 civil servants, which aims to refresh the agency. Also, we do not want them to become 'kings' [in their unit],' Andri said as quoted by beritajakarta.com.
Andri said that there was a total of 1,600 civil servants in the agency. He said that the agency would reshuffle the remaining officers soon.
