AKARTA: The Jakarta Police confirmed that the murder of a mother and her son in Cakung, East Jakarta, was not related to robbery or sexual harassment.
Dayu Priamberita, 45, and Yuel Maheswara Leksono, 5, were found dead in their house on Thursday afternoon by Yuel's father Heno Pujoleksono, 48, who had just returned home from work.
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Tito Karnavian said on Friday that the police did not suspect robbery or sexual assault to have played a part as none of the family's belongings were missing and the victims were found fully clothed. Thus, the police dropped the initial allegation that they were victims of robbery or sexual assault.
'We found a very low possibility of a violent robbery or sexual crime. So, we are currently examining other motives,' said Tito, adding that they had questioned at least 10 witnesses.
