ANGKALPINANG: Bangka Belitung Islands Police chief Brig. Gen. Gatot Subiyaktoro has confirmed that 26 local police personnel would face trial and an ethics tribunal should the institution find evidence of their alleged involvement in a recent group assault on three local residents.
The Pangkalpinang Police, according to Gatot, is currently investigating the case and determining the role of each police officer in the assault.
'Their case is currently being handled by the Pangkalpinang Police. Please check the progress of the case with them,' Gatot told reporters on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Last week, three local residents, identified as Izul, Yanto and Rahman, reported dozens of personnel from Bangka Belitung Police's Sabhara quick response unit to the Pangkalpinang Police for assaulting them. The three victims, who all work as chicken couriers, said the incident occurred on Sept. 30.
