he Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda), which oversees most public transportation in Jakarta, has said that it will not decrease transportation fares in Jakarta despite the recent diesel fuel-price decrease.
Organda head Adrianto Djokosoetono said his organization had not lowered fares because the fuel-price decrease of Rp 200 (14 US cents) was not significant, while maintenance fees were on the rise.
The government recently decreased the price of diesel to Rp 6,700 from Rp 6,900 per liter.
'The sum cannot cover our operational costs, such as costs for spare parts, which continue to increase as a result of the weakening of the rupiah,' Andrianto said on Saturday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
