he 11th Pesparawi national church choir competition concluded over the weekend in Ambon, Maluku, with the host province being crowned the champion after accumulating the highest score among the 34 participating regions.
The festival, which was officially opened by President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo last Tuesday, featured 12 competitions, including for vocal groups and children and women's choir categories.
Although Maluku and West Papua won three categories each, the judges announced Maluku the winner of the competition, as its total score was higher than that of West Papua, kompas.com reported on Sunday.
Around 7,000 participants representing 34 provinces joined this year's Pesparawi. The next competition will be held in West Kalimantan in 2018.
