The three victims, identified as Slamet, Yahudin and Dirin are believed to have suffered from a lack of oxygen while deepening the well belonging to another local resident, Nur Salim, on Sunday. Three of the victims' friends, Bekti, Marno and Darmawan, fainted while trying to help the victims. The three survived after being evacuated and rushed to a nearby hospital.
'I asked them to deepen the well, since there was no water in it, especially during the day,' Salim told the police on Monday.
