resident's Cup champions Persib arrived to a hero's welcome in Bandung late on Monday after defeating Sriwijaya FC in the final in Jakarta on Sunday.
Hundreds of bobotoh, the nickname for the club's supporters, waited to greet the team at the Pasteur toll fate, an exit off the Purbaleunyi turnpike connecting Bandung with Jakarta. Mayor Ridwan Kamil was among the receiving crowd.
The team members were transferred onto city tour bus Bandros, while the mayor, team captain Atep and the tournament's best player Zulham Zamrun travelled on another vehicle in front of the bus.
The fans in blue jerseys yelled in celebration as the team was escorted to their retreat.
Ridwan said a victory parade had yet to be scheduled. 'I want guarantees from bobotoh to keep order. I don't expect excessive euphoria,' he said.
He said the parade could be held on Oct. 25, or a week later. The date would coincide with the peak of the city's anniversary celebrations.
