Australian athletes emerged the winners among more than 1,300 professional and amateur athletes from 31 countries in the Herbalife Bali International Triathlon in Jimbaran, on Sunday.

Philippnes-based Australian Mitchell Robins registered the best time of 2:05:58 to win the men'€™s Olympic distance category, followed by Indonesians Bachtiar Yan and Muhammad Kadri.

The victory added to Robins'€™ recent achievements of winning Ironman 70.3 Japan and Half Challenge Forster.

The women'€™s honor belonged to Kylie Scholz with a time of 2:43:37. Fellow Australian Rossans Bille finished in second place and Indonesian Shafiya Varra Dinda Adha in third place.

The Olympic distance comprises a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer bike-ride and a 10 kilometer run. The other two categories in the competition were the sprint distance, comprising a 500 meter swim, a 20 kilometer bike-ride and a 5 kilometer run and the 5-km fun run.

Robins said that he was very happy to participate in the 7th Bali triathlon for the first time. '€œIt'€™s obviously fantastic. It'€™s great to be in Bali and my first time to race. And I am really happy,'€ he said. '€œThe run course is really hilly and hot and it'€™s a good challenge,'€ Robins added.

Scholz also acknowledged the challenging event. '€œIt'€™s a difficult course with running on the sands and hills and dealing with the traffic on the bike course, but it is a lot better than the previous year. It'€™s challenging, but fun,'€ Scholz, who participated in the Bali Triathlon for second time, said.

'€œWe are glad that we could hold the Bali triathlon again after last year absence,'€ said Bali International Triathlon organizer Brennan Lindner. The event was canceled last year due to Indonesia'€™s general elections.
