he Taufik Hidayat Arena Junior Championships are back, welcoming 245 young shuttlers to showcase their skills in a competition held at the arena in Ciracas, East Jakarta, from Thursday to Sunday,
In their second year, they continue to provide a competition for children and young athletes as part of their mission to develop Indonesian badminton.
The event offers a total of Rp 35 million (US$2,589) in prize money.
'In my experience, it is important for an athlete to participate in many competitions, starting from a young age,' said Olympian Taufik Hidayat.
'It doesn't matter if you're winning or losing. It's the experience [of participating in a competition] that will help someone to become a better athlete in the future,' he said, adding that he hoped the event would motivate young shuttlers to build their confidence.
