ndonesia will host the 9th World Junior, Cadet and Under 21 Karate Championships at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in Bumi Serpong Damai, South Tangerang, Banten, on Nov. 12-15.
As many as 1,425 athletes, 262 coaches, 221 referees and judges and 267 officials from 91 countries around the globe are set to participate in the event.
The championships will be divided into three age categories: cadet (15-16 years old), junior (17-18 years old) and U-21 (under 21 years of age). There are 35 events.
The Indonesian Karate-Do Federation (Forki) lobbied to host the event for a long time before eventually earning the opportunity to do so during the 8th World Junior, Cadet and Under 21 Karate Championships 2013 in Guadalajara, Spain.
President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo is set to open the event at the ICE on Nov. 12.
